John Rylands Library acquires ICI Dyestuffs Division archive
Imperial Chemical Industries (ICI), formed in 1926 by the merger of a number of British chemical companies, was for a long time the largest manufacturer in British industry. The archival legacy of such a large and widely-distributed business is complex. However, the archive of its Dyestuff Division, based in Manchester, has now found an appropriate home in the John Rylands Library. The archive includes the records of a number of predecessor firms and stretches far back into the 19th century. For more information, follow the link to the Library’s own blog.
