Appeal to catalogue textile archives

The Friends of Lancashire Archives are seeking £12,000 to complete the cataloguing of the important collection of Horrockses, Crewdson & Co Ltd. The firm of cotton spinners and manufacturers grew out of a business established by John Horrocks in 1791. Horrockses were not only a significant company in their own right, styling themselves “The Greatest Name in Cotton”, they were employers on a scale that shaped the character of Preston.
